Like 12 Car events, stage rallying involves a crew of a driver and navigator competing against the clock. Stage rallies focus a lot more on speed and endurance. Teams wear flame proof overalls and crash helmets and require motorsport licences. The car needs to be equipped with a roll cage, fire extinguishers, bucket seats & motorsport spec harnesses.


Although speed plays a vital part in stage rallying, the skills required to successfully compete in road rallies (12 cars or regularity) are directly transferable.
